Christmas Tree Recycling Available at Three City of St. Louis Parks

Forest Park, O’Fallon Park and Carondelet Park accepting bare Christmas Trees.

December 23, 2013 – After the glow of the Christmas season is gone and the decorations have been taken off the tree, City residents can take the bare tree to one of 3 City park sites to be recycled.

Trees can be dropped off at:

Forest Park, Lower Muny Opera parking lot

O’Fallon Park, West Florissant and Holly, picnic grounds #4

Carondelet Park, Grand and Holly Hills, area between gate and recycling containers.

Trees will be accepted at these park sites from Thursday, December 26, 2013 through Friday, January 10, 2014. The trees will be ground into free mulch made available at these sites. Artificial or plastic trees will NOT be accepted.

Trees must be free of ALL decorations.  Please remove the ornaments, tinsel, lights and tree stand.  Do NOT put the tree in a plastic bag or cover it. Wreaths and pine roping are NOT accepted at the sites.

“We want to encourage residents to recycle their Christmas trees. Locations in the north, south and central areas of the City were chosen to ensure that our recycling sites are as convenient as possible.” Said Greg Hayes, Forestry Commissioner.

City residents should NOT place Christmas trees in alley dumpsters or recycling containers. However, the Refuse Division will collect them as part of its regular monthly bulk pickup program.

Hello my is Marge & I work at Groomingdales. On the morning of xmas eve I found a pitbull wandering down watson. He is pretty skinny & has a bit of frostbite on his paws because it was so cold out that night. I have been unable to find his owners. He is not micro-chipped or nuetered. His ears are cropped so at some point he belonged to somebody. Long story short- my bosses have been nice enough to let him stay at work while i try to find him somewhere to go. Problem is I cant :( I’ve tried stray rescue, mutts n stuff, jewell animal hospital & gateway pet guardians.

Please do not make yourself a victim of a crime. It is my understanding that two guys posing ad Laclede gas workers are working our neighborhood.
They talked their way into someone’s home in the 5800 block of Pernod yesterday.
They supposedly had fake IDs. Companies like Laclede will not randomly show up at your house, they will make an appointment first. If someone comes to your door and poses as a utility worker please call the police, there’s no need for you to take a chance whether they are legitimate or not.
