Attention All Ameren Missouri Customers:

SCAM ALERT

Attention All Ameren Missouri Customers:

Don’t Let Scam Artists Ruin Your Holiday Season!

Thieves have been calling some of our customers and demanding payment of their electric bill
over the phone or risk disconnection. Often, they’ll insist on payment by a Green Dot MoneyPak
card. Don’t fall for this scheme. Once you give a thief the Personal Information Number (PIN)
from the card, your money is gone.

JJAmeren Missouri representatives never call to demand payment. We never ask for
personal information—such as Social Security number or account number—over the phone.
JJNever give your credit card, debit card, Social Security, ATM, checking or saving
account numbers to anyone who calls or sends an email requesting this information.
JJNever allow anyone into your business who wants to check your electrical wiring,
natural gas pipes or appliances unless you have scheduled an appointment or have
reported a natural gas leak and the person has proper identification.
JJAmeren Missouri employees always carry photo identification, which includes name,
employee number and an official Ameren Missouri logo.

If you suspect someone is impersonating an Ameren Missouri employee, end the conversation
and immediately call Ameren Missouri, 1.800.552.7583.

Holidays can be difficult for those experiencing grief or loss – of a loved one, of a job, of a way of life or of independence. Join us to acknowledge the God who walks with us through the difficult times as well as the joyful times. Indeed, we name and worship in the season of Advent that God is “with us” – Emmanuel – in Jesus, whose birth we celebrate at Christmas.

Come to our Blue Christmas Service, Thursday, December 19th, 7 p.m. at Mount Tabor United Church of Christ, 6520 Arsenal St, St. Louis, MO 63139. All are welcome! Invite others in need of this healing time.

Thanks!
Susan

I received this e-mail and I am passing this along so you know they legitimate

Hi Joe,

I just wanted you and the neighborhood to know that our Ivanhoe Computers
department has hired young men from Lutheran South and SLUH to canvas for
our computer repair business, introduce our services to residents and hand
out or leave behind a brochure and a fridge magnet for Computer Help. I
have attached their photo so if anyone sees them walking around they know
they aren’t the bad guys.

Given the spate of burglaries we wanted the neighborhood to know who our
guys are and that they are simply out promoting for our business earning
extra money to buy Christmas gifts for their families. We’ve instructed
them not to put any materials in USPS mailboxes per postal regulations and
to be polite. We’ve also instructed them to be another set of eyes and to
call us in case they see copper thieves or the burglars matching the
description in your previous email.

They are very good workers but if anyone needs to call us about their
behavior while at work out in the community, please do. We want to make
sure they are acting professionally!

Also, I wanted to pass on this article. There have been over 2 Million
Facebook and Google, etc… accounts hacked recently because people use the
same password for all their accounts. I wrote an article explaining this
and put up a secure password generator if anyone is worried and wants to
learn more about safe passwords on Facebook, etc….

Thanks

Fyi, I talked to captain Swrdirski today about some of the crime that has happened over the last week.He confirmed the black truck story and the possibility that they may be connected to some of the home invasions.

He also confirmed that a lady was held up as she got out of her car, they took her purse, cell phone and car. this was two people and it does not look like it is the same guys.

He also told me if you have someone knocking on your door and you don’t know them you should call 911 and let the police check it out. Don’t worry if it turns out to be nothing, better safe than sorry!

Also leave you porch lights on and look out for one another.

I recieved this e-mail yesterday and I think it is worth looking at. If you see this truck you should call the police. It may not be or could be involved, let the police figure it out. Also you should not open your door to strangers. I would call the police if they stop knocking and they move into your yard. Most honest people will get back in their car and leave if no one is home.

Yesterday, I saw “The Hill” Facebook group talking about a house being robbed on Wilson and a newer black pickup truck with 3 men casing the area.
Today my parent were visited by 2 black men in a nice black pickup truck. One stayed in the truck and the other rang the doorbell. My mother looked out of the peep hole and notice the guy was looking around the perimeter of the door. She opened the inner door and he asked for someone she never heard of before. When she mentioned no one lived there by that name he said fine and walked away. This happened today at 2:30 on the 56XX block of Marquette. The guy at the door was a tall good looking black man wearing a yellow vest (construction safety vest?).
Now when I get home from work my tenant at 5629 Potomac left a message that they were burglarized today. This house is directly across the alley from my parents house. They ram sacked the house and took a lot of valuables, plus a double barrel shotgun.
Please let everyone know to keep an eye out for these guys and call the police if they see a suspicious black pickup truck in the neighborhood. Looks like they are casing/robbing during the day when people are at work.

Animal House Fund Cat Shelter

Animal House Fund Cat Shelter is a nonprofit rescue organization, shelter and adoption center for the homeless cats and kittens of St. Louis City.  At the request of a volunteer, I stopped by the Animal House a couple of weeks ago for a tour.

Animal House is an independent, nonprofit, stray cat rescue organization, dedicated to creating and maintaining an environmentally friendly, no-kill shelter and adoption center for the homeless cats and kittens of St. Louis City.

Animal House opened in August of 2010, with the arrival of dozens of cats and kittens from the city’s overcrowded animal control facility.

Residents of St. Louis may remember that the mayor of St. Louis had shuttered the decrepit animal control building just weeks earlier. Had it not been for Animal House, those cats and kittens would have had nowhere to go.

Anyway – back to my visit on Saturday afternoon.  I spent about an hour at the Animal House and was impressed that it is home to more than 200 cats.  They are from challenging circumstances that include neglect, abandonment and illness and abuse. Despite their sad histories, Animal House gives them food, medical care, socialization, individual attention, lots of love and their very best effort to find each a loving, forever home.  And to that end more than 200 have been adopted to loving homes just this year.

The Animal House building is large, airy, inviting and – to the delight of the feline residents – exclusive to felines.  10 – 12 Cats live in huge 10’ X 10’ cages that are constructed by volunteers, decorated by volunteers, and cleaned and cared for by volunteers.  And, there in lies the problem – they have room to build another huge cage, but they don’t have the funds.  I am willing to match $500 if we can raise the needed $1000 for the cage.
