Lindenwood Park Neighborhood Association (LPNA) General Membership Meeting

Monday, December 1, 2014
7:30 – 9:00pm

Chief Sam Dotson from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department will be the featured speaker at the December 1 LPNA General Membership Meeting. This is your opportunity to speak directly to the Chief regarding crime incidence and proposed crime reduction strategies in our neighborhood – including the issue of redrawing District 2 boundaries to decrease the size of the District.

All general meetings are held in the auditorium in the lower level of Union United Methodist Church at the corner of Watson and Pernod.

Our city representatives will be there, as well as our Neighborhood Liaison Officer from the police department, and neighborhood board members. Sometimes local and state representatives also attend to speak with the public and hear from them.

We will be joining with Union United Methodist Church to collect food pantry items that will be donated to Shalom House.  In the spirit of giving, please join us in bringing various non-perishable items to the meeting and we will donate them to the church on behalf of LPNA, and the church will ensure they reach the right place.

Our meetings are open to everyone.

We hope to see you there!

Monthly Tweetup

Come and join us for our last Tweetup of 2014.

November’s Tweetup will be held at Vinnie’s Italian Beef and Gyro’s at 3208 Ivanhoe Ave. 63139 on Tuesday, November 25th (4th Tuesday of November) from 5.30pm – 7.30pm.

If you’ve never been to a Tweetup, this is your last chance to join us this year for our final big holiday Tweetup bash! If you’ve never eaten at Vinnie’s here’s your chance to try their wonderful food. Come and support a great new local restaurant and have fun with your neighbors in the process.

Vinnie’s does not sell liquor, but don’t panic because beer will be provided FREE of charge. When we run out, that’s it! You are more than welcome to bring your own beer/wine and I’m sure that people will be sharing with friends. Vinnie’s will be able to keep your beer/wine on ice for you! If you’d like something different to drink, there is always Muser’s Bar next door to Vinnie’s and Babe’s Tavern across the road. Be sure to ask for a “to go cup” for your beverage.

A Tweetup is a fantastic way to get to know your fellow Lindenwood Park residents. Many new friendships have been formed and many people have had a great opportunity to network with other local business owners, as well as with our Alderman, Joe Vaccaro and with our Neighborhood Improvement Specialist, Annette Bridges. If you don’t already know, a Tweetup is just a buzz word for a happy hour!

NOTE: Bring your own alcohol – sodas are available for purchase (we will have a very limited selection of beer available for free)

protests and how it will effect our neighborhood

First let me say I have received a lot of calls about the protests and how it will effect our neighborhood. Although I do not know the answer to this, I would have faith that the police will do all they can to keep us safe.

There are things you may want to do like stock up on food and get your thanksgiving  groceries this weekend. You may want to fill up you cars. I only say this in case of a street being closed or if a store would chose to close. I would have to believe that this would be spotty and limited to small areas.

Although no one knows the answer to what will happen  I will keep everyone in my prayers for a peaceful outcome to this.

Also please keep our police as well as the the people wanting to protest in peace in all of our prayers that no one get hurt.

I would also like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving

I received this email  about the 50/50 side walk for this past year. The first contractor could not get the job done so it when out for rebid.

I just got another contractor so they are starting but the way the weather is starting out I would have to say it will probably be next year since we are going into Winter.

Wish I had better news.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has attended the Tweetup’s over the last 3 years.  Without your attendance and contributions we wouldn’t have a monthly FUN social event.  I know many people look forward to it every month and really miss it when they are not able to attend.  Thank you to the restaurants who have hosted our Tweetup’s and done a fantastic job of making sure that we have everything we need and are so friendly and helpful – Tweetup’s work as a great referral for our local restaurants.  Major thank you’s to Joe Vaccaro who attends every Tweetup (we were even able to give him a very brief lesson on how to use Twitter at one Tweetup – follow him @Aldermanjoe).  Joe goes out of his way to attend them and has always been more than willing to donate appetizers, drinks, whatever we request.  This does
not go unnoticed nor unappreciated.  Thank you to Annette Bridges who has been wonderfully instrumental in answering so many questions and helping with many problems in our Ward.

Happy Holiday’s everyone!  Stay safe and stay warm.  Hope to see you at Vinnie’s on November 25th!
