Lawn And Garden Contest
 

The Lindenwood Park Neighborhood Association will sponsor the 2015 Lawn and Garden Contest this June. Every household in the Lindenwood Park Neighborhood is eligible for consideration. A team of former winners constitutes the judging committee. Winners receive a gift certificate to an area business, a yard sign identifying them as a winner, pictures of their garden posted to the LPNA website and recognition at the September LPNA General Membership meeting. Recognition categories include:

Best Backyard Garden
If you would like to be considered for recognition, or you know someone you would like to nominate please contact janet@lindenwoodpark.org. Let us know the name of the person whose yard you wish to nominate as well as their street address and either phone number or email address. The selection committee can take it from there. We would particularly appreciate nominations for backyard garden winners. Many people have privacy fences or garages which screen their backyard from view so self-nomination or friend or neighbor nominations to identify beautiful backyards.

Synopsis:   While on directed patrol in the North Hampton Neighborhood due to a large number of recent residential burglaries, Officers Vineyard & Meyers observed a white male with a dark complexion driving a gray 2 door vehicle in the area. This subject and vehicle matched descriptions from witnesses of several prior burglaries.  
 
He then pulled into the alley behind the house at 5619 Pernod and exited his vehicle. Officer Meyers got out on foot to obtain a better view and observed suspect break the glass out of the rear door, reach in and unlock the door and enter the residence.

Suspect emerged a short time later and entered his vehicle. Sgt. Menendez and Officers Meyers and Vineyard converged on the vehicle and took suspect into custody. Stolen property was seized from his vehicle. “Consent to Search” was obtained for his residence, where a large amount of stolen property was recovered.

Property taken in burglaries from:

6223 Pernod on 5/6/15 (15-22053),
5741 Oleatha on 5/8/15 (15-22420),
4136 Humphrey on 5/5/15 (15-21780) was recovered.

Property taken in burglaries from District One was also recovered:

968 Bonita on 3/26/15 (15-13777),
5042 Lansdowne on 3/30/15 (15-14511),
4348 Osceola on 4/23/15 (15-19576)
5230 Murdoch on 4/27/15 (15-19576).

Additionally, witnesses from burglaries at :

5765 Delor on 5/11/15 (15-23022) 
6041 Potomac on 5/8/15 (15-22446) described suspect and his vehicle.

THE CIRCUMSTANCES OF THIS FIRE MATCHED NUMEROUS OTHER FIRES THAT HAVE OCCURRED IN THE AREA OF THE LAST SEVERAL DAYS. WHILE SEARCHING THE AREA, OFFICERS DETAINED A JUVENILE SUBJECT NEAR HAMPTON/JUNIATA. THE JUVENILE SPONTANEOUSLY ADMITTED TO STARTING THE FIRE AND HAD A LIGHTER IN HIS POSSESSION. THE JUVENILE WAS REMANDED TO THE CUSTODY OF HIS MOTHER AND A FOLLOW UP WILL BE CONDUCTED TO DETERMINE IF THE SUBJECT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY OF THE OTHER PREVIOUS FIRES IN THE AREA.

Boy Scout Troop 62 is having it’s annual Tailgate Sale on Saturday, May 9, 2015, 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
